Why Choose This Course?
Whether you're dealing with an emergency that's dive-related or not, this course will teach you how to assess the person needing assistance and help you decide the best course of action to be taken. It's hands-on! You'll learn how to give Primary and Secondary care, including CPR.
Emergency First Response's course curricula are based on patient care standards as published in the American Heart Association Guidelines 2005 Standards for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, and the consensus view of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Working Group of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). ILCOR is an international standards group representing most of the world's major resuscitation organisations.
Focused on training the rescuer, the Emergency First Response approach to training builds confidence in rescuers and increases their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency by teaching them the skills they need in a non-stressful learning environment. Participants are also given as much practice as necessary to master and retain these skills.
On completing this activity, certification will be awarded if you've shown mastery
of the skill requirements as defined by the Emergency First Response Program.
Flexible Schedule
You can start this course any day of the week. It consists of one morning or afternoon.
If you combine this with PADI Rescue Diver, you learn more dive-related skills on the boat too.
Example EFR Only Itinerary
Training...
9:00am: Forms and introduction
9:30am: Watch the videos and check your Knowledge Review answers
11:00pm: Victim scenarios (role play)
12-1:00pm: Finish
Location
All training is performed at the dive centre, unless it's taken as part of your Rescue Diver course where it is then built into your Rescue Diver training program.
General Information
We would recommend a youngest age for this activity of 10yrs old.
Keeping the attention of anybody younger than this is quite difficult!
Also Consider
PADI Rescue Diver Course
It gives you the confidence and skill to deal with underwater and surface-level emergencies, for both youself and your fellow diver.
Many people who take the EFR course do so during their Rescue Diver Course.
